Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard courts
A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden trophy for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
The Russian, a ex- number one, has endured a torrid period, achieving just one match at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.
The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with long-time trainer his previous coach.
Presently working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested three-set victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.
It is his initial championship after the Italian tournament and first on a hard court since spring of that year.
The win also signifies he has secured twenty-one victories at 21 different competitions.
"It's the first time I have attended a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is especially meaningful," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my child her name was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six championship matches, including in Halle previously this season.
Medvedev's retrieving play style and regular outbursts on court had led commentators to wonder if his skill to compete at the highest level was over.
But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and compete aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced service.
He fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging opponent, taking 4 of the final five games to go ahead.
The competitors traded service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his first professional title, gained dominance to force a decider.
The opponent saved 4 initial chances in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to secure the win.
Suitably, he earned the title with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
